Position Summary

The Senior Cloud Engineer is a mid-level technical role focused on the automation, scalability, and stability of our Azure cloud environment. You will be responsible for the "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC) lifecycle, cloud networking, and systems engineering. While your primary domains are DevOps and Infrastructure, you will wear multiple hats to support the overall technical health of the platform. You will report to the Manager of Cloud Security.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & DevOps (Primary Focus)

• Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or Bicep for consistent, scalable Azure deployments.
• Manage and optimize GitHub repositories and GitHub Actions for infrastructure CI/CD pipelines (IT-side infrastructure automation).
• Develop and implement AI-driven automation agents and scripts (PowerShell/Python) to reduce manual operational tasks and improve workforce effectiveness.
• Maintain the Azure Landing Zone (ALZ) architecture, ensuring best practices in subscription management, resource grouping, and policy governance.

Cloud Networking & Connectivity

• Manage Azure-native networking components, including VNETs, Subnets, Peerings, and Private Links.
• Administer secure connectivity solutions, including Site-to-Site VPNs, Point-to-Site VPNs, and Network Security Groups (NSGs).
• Manage and optimize Azure traffic and security components—including Application Gateway, Front Door, WAF, firewalls, and related networking services—to ensure secure, scalable, and highly available workloads.

Cloud Systems Engineering

• Serve as the engineer/Admin for Azure IaaS (Virtual Machines) and PaaS services.
• Administer Linux and Windows VMs instances within the cloud environment.
• Actively harden and secure new technologies, ensuring all implementations meet established architectural standards.
• Collaborate with the Manager of Cloud Security to ensure infrastructure aligns with security benchmarks.

Operational Excellence

• Create and maintain detailed "as-built" documentation and support guides for all cloud systems.
• Manage external vendor or partners implementations and service initiatives.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for L2/L3 troubleshooting when issues require deep investigation or terraform modification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: 8+ years in Systems Administration/Engineering with at least 6 years specifically focused on Azure Cloud environments.
• Automation: Proven experience with GitHub Actions and IaC (Terraform/Bicep) is mandatory.
• Networking: Strong understanding of Azure networking, including Hub-Spoke topology and Zero Trust security architecture.
• Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for task automation.
• Mindset: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and prioritize automation over manual fixes.
